I agree with Huckleberry, except for the name calling. Oconomowoc is one of the nicest places in the area, plus we are surrounded by communities like Watertown, which only make us better. There is now way that any train passangers will stop in Oconomowoc unless it is their destination. Oconomowoc has nothing to draw anybody in, and if the oversized strip mall goes up in Pabst Farms. Look at all of the new "destination" signs that Oconomowoc put up. When did Whitman Park, become a place that people need directions to or even want to go to. There's another sign that has Pabst Farms, I-94, and HWY 67 on it, right after a Hwy junction sign that labels all of the previous except for Pabst Farms. Who would want to jump off of a train only to see a parking lot and the back of buildings. Oconomowoc needs to spend money on revitalizing downtown, right now the best part of downtown seems to be the new road and tree border. I've grown up in Oconomowoc all my life and will continue to have my children grow up here, but we need people to understand where the money needs to go. If they focus on the new rail too much, downtown will be a dump when they finally get it here.
