Oconomowoc’s Construction Web site Shameful.
The pending closures of Wisconsin Avenue downtown (From Main to Walnut street) give us a moment to take pause and reflect on an aspect of the city of the Five O’s we think about a lot, but rarely discuss.
The city’s Web site on the Downtown Reconstruction Project, frankly, sucks.
The Downtown Reconstruction page offers little more than a few grainy GIFs, some horrific clip art, and a handful of telephone numbers.
This is not the web. This is a travesty. An embarrassment. This says to people viewing our city from the outside: “We have $24 million to give to rich developers, but not one cent to spend on keeping the people informed.”
We hope nobody is paying for this site development, because an unfinished, ugly, non-functional site like this being heralded as the go-to spot for up-to-date info on a major reconstruction project is not only embarrassing, it’s an insult to the people of Oconomowoc.
It’s not as if Oconomowoc needs a site as comprehensive as the site built for Milwaukee’s Marquette Interchange project, but for those of us who rely on Wisconsin Avenue every day, this project is at least as important.
Seriously, City of Oconomowoc. Call us. We’ll hook you up. Our rates are reasonable, and we’ll teach you. You’ll come away a better city for it.

The key to understanding iThey get paid no matter if any business person looses thousands. When government builds
monuments citizens suffer inconvenience or money.
