Battle of the Bands

We arrived late at the Battle of the Bands, and missed Brain Holiday, but did manage to catch most of Hello Hello. Personally, I didn’t like Hello Hello, but they did seem to be playing original songs, which is good to see.

After Hello Hello was a band called “Five O Special” or maybe “5 Oh Special” or something. I’m not quite sure of the spelling. The band was made up of kids 13 and 14 years old, and the bassist and drummer appeared to be twins. These guys did all covers, including two Green Day covers and two Black Sabbath covers. (No, they didn’t do Rat Salad.)

In the end, Hello Hello was the winner, but as far as a crowd pleasing performance, the “Five O Special” kids got the job done.

5 o special should have won. It was supposed to be a thing for youth bands. The members in hello hello were in thier twenties! 5 o special had a GREAT crowd response and the best selection of music.

I’ve got to tell you I think Hello hello (aka Greenflash) is probably the biggest thing to come out of the Wisconsin Music scene since Steve Miller and the Bodeans. They consistantly produce original music that is very “chart worthy”. I am amazed that the teens of Oconomowoc are not flooding their local DJs with requests for Hello Hello or Greenflash music. I mean, they have won a number of battles, including one that took them to a Summerfest gig. These kids are the real deal.
