Walking & Biking

Walkers and Bikers rejoice! According to this JS Online story, the plan for bicycle and pedestrian routes through the city got approval this week: Plan Commission OKs bike, walking routes:

The proposed network of pedestrian and bicycle trails would link city parks and beaches and stretch around Fowler Lake.

Most of the bicycling and walking routes designated in the plan run along roads that planners believed could accommodate bicycles. The city already has a good system of sidewalks to accommodate pedestrians along these roads, planners said.

We’d like to see better (and safer) bicycle routes in Oconomowoc. It’s a somewhat small city, and easy enough to get around in without a car. (Plus, with gas prices continuing to rise, we’ll all be riding bikes to work soon enough!)
