Lemonade Relief
Some local children serve up lemonade to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, One glass at a time:
Over Labor Day weekend, Casey Zwart, 8, Cameron Zwart, 4, Avery Zwart, 2, and neighbor and friend Bridgette Brandt, 10, sold lemonade to passersby and Fowler Lake walkers from the yard of their homes on Pleasant Street.
As a result of their efforts, the four children brought in $270.50 – an amount that, in the days following, grew to more than $4,300 thanks to friends and family caught up by the children’s zeal.
In the past I’ve seen kids selling lemonade along the lake walk, and they always seem to do well. It’s great that this bunch of kids could do something to help those in need.
